3.1 Who is allowed to renew the Domain Name: Every Domain Name under the ccTLD .cr, which is not payment exempted, must be renewed before its expiration. The Administrative Contact, the Technical Contact, or any other individual shall be able to renew the Domain Name. NIC-Internet Costa Rica shall send automatic online reminders of the expiration date of their Domain Name, according to Article 3.2 in this document. Nevertheless, the expiration date may be looked up by the Domain Name Contacts or anyone in our Official Website http://www.nic.cr:
Therefore, the "Contacts" shall not dispute any service disconnection or Domain Name deletion due to lack of payment caused by a non-billing or renewal notification on behalf of NIC-Costa Rica. Once NIC-Internet Costa Rica receives the renewal request and confirms the payment, the renewal will be effective in a 24-working hours maximum, if it is a Third Level Domain Name. NIC-Internet Costa Rica will automatically send an online notice with the renewal information. The 24-working-hour period is the valid term except in case of force majeure events, which are out of control of the National Academy of Sciences and its office, NIC-Internet Costa Rica. For Second Level Domain Name changes in the Primary DNS database and server, accordingly, the maximum time to apply these changes would be a 24-calendar-hour period. Thus amended by the publication in La Gaceta No.30, on February 12th, 2008. 3.4 Disconnection of service for lack of payment and reinstatement: 3.4.1 Disconnection: If the Domain Name is not renewed upon its expiration date, it shall be disconnected for 15-working days, starting the day after its expiration date. During this disconnected period, NIC-Internet Costa Rica will not implement any modification requests to the DNS. Neither will we implement any Domain Name termination sent by the Administrative Contact and the Domain Holder, as established in Article 5 of the present document. If at the end of this fortnight, the Domain Name had not been renewed, NIC-Internet Costa Rica shall proceed to terminate it, and so it will be available for anyone interested in purchasing it. Thus amended by the publication in La Gaceta No.30, on February 12th, 2008. 3.4.2 Reinstatement: To reinstate a Domain Name that was disconnected for lack of payment upon it expiration date, the Administrative or Technical or any other person must fill out the Online Request for Renewal. For renewal, please choose one of the two options on Article 3.3 of the present document. A Third Level Domain Name renewal or reinstatement will be implemented on the 24-working hours, once NIC-Internet Costa Rica has received the electronic request and has approved it. NIC-Internet Costa Rica will send an automatic online notice to the Contacts informing them about the Domain Name approval and reinstatement. The terms previously determined in section 3. Domain Name Renewal will be suspended and reinstated according to the policies stated in Article 8 of ".cr" Domain Name Conflict Resolution Policy and its Regulations.
