Second Level Domains

* All the names of second level domain requested by natural or legal persons, national or foreign, public or private in nature, they pay a fee for registration or renewal of domain.

Domains of Third Level

** The names of third level domain that are requested by institutions or public entities of the Republic of Costa Rica are exempt from payment. The names of third level domain requested by entities or institutions of the government of the Republic of Costa Rica under .go.cr, are exempt from payment.

Notes:

The rates for the registration or renewal of domain names are not refundable once that the registration or renewal of the name has been carried out by NIC-Internet Costa Rica.

The rates for registration or renewal of domains can be modified for promotional activities, and other. These changes shall be communicated through the official website http://www.nic.cr, and other means to the National Academy of Sciences, through its drive NIC-Internet Costa Rica, it deems appropriate.

NIC - Internet Costa Rica has automatic management of remembrance of the payment of the domains that are about to expire, so you will be sending emails to the administrative and technical contact informing them of the maturity of the domain.

The management of remembrance of expiration works as follows:

• 30 calendar days before the date of expiration and renewal of the domain NIC-Internet Costa Rica sent a notice automated electronic e-mail addresses of contacts reminding them of the expiry of the domain, the corresponding payment for renewal, the disconnection of the service for non-payment and the elimination of the domain if this was not renewed during the period of disconnection.

The request has been received, verified payment and approved the request by NIC-Internet Costa Rica, renewal shall be made within a maximum of 24 working hours for the domains of third level, and 24 hours for the second-level domains. NIC-Internet Costa Rica sent a notice automated electronic contacts informing them of the renewal. This time-frame of 24 working hours and 24 natural hours, is valid except for reasons beyond the control of the National Academy of Sciences and its dependence NIC-Internet Costa Rica.

This process has an administrative charge equivalent to the cost of the registration of a domain within one year, the amount left over will be available so that the user may make any other transaction, or to be returned to the user in accordance with the internal procedure of NIC-Internet Costa Rica for this process. The implementation of the amount left over for another transaction or return always applied and when the domain is less than one calendar year from having been registered"
